Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Do Windshield Repairs And Replacements Cost?

The cost of a repair depends on the size of the damage. A windshield replacement however, depends on the type of vehicle you drive. It’s always a good idea to get a free estimate for the replacement, so you know what to expect when you have your vehicle serviced.

Will Insurance Cover Windshield Replacement?

The answer to this depends on what your policy covers or what their policy covers if another driver caused the damage.  There are two categories of insurance coverage that cover glass claims:

  • Comprehensive coverage: This is an optional coverage that protects against damage to your vehicle caused by non-collision events that are outside of your control. Your insurer will most likely cover a windshield replacement if your damage falls within this description and you are covered with comprehensive coverage. If you don’t have comprehensive coverage, your insurance more than likely will not be able to cover the damage.

  • Property damage liability coverag:. When your windshield suffers collision-related damage that’s another driver’s fault, the other person’s liability coverage should pay for your windshield replacement. However, you’ll need to file a claim, and the other insurer will need to accept it.

Customers are always responsible for their deductible which ranges from $0.00 to $2,000 depending on your coverage.

How Long Does Rock Chip Repair and Replacement Take?

Generally speaking, repairs require about 30 minutes. However, that timeframe can vary depending on the number of chips or cracks your windshield has.

A replacement however, takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

How Do I Know If I Need A Windshield Repair Or Replacement?

Getting a professional assessment is the best way to determine whether the damage can be repaired. But if you’re dealing with a large crack or chip bigger than the size of a quarter, you’ll more than likely need brand-new glass.

Is Mobile Auto Glass Service As Good As In-Shop?

Yes. We perform mobile windshield repairs and replacements to the same quality standard as in-shop auto. The only difference is that when our techs perform a mobile service, they can’t control the surrounding environment.

If weather conditions are poor the day of your service, and you don’t have a covered area, we will need to reschedule your appointment or bring your vehicle in-shop.

Do I Need To Do Anything Special After A Windshield Replacement?

Yes! Immediately after a windshield replacement, you must wait the allotted time that we inform you with before driving your vehicle.  “We almost always use a 30 minute curing urethane, where your car is safe to drive within 30 minutes of the new windshield being placed. As a courtesy, Goin Glass leaves a rear view mirror hanger that will have your “safe drive away time” listed.

What Is ADAS Calibration? Do I Need It?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. This is designed to ensure those systems are properly calibrated after you get auto glass replacement. If you have a newer-model vehicle that has modern safety systems like lane assist, backup cameras, adaptive cruise control, etc., your vehicle will require ADAS calibration after your replacement.
